This model guides our leaders in every aspect of their work and oversight responsibilities. John Hill Chief Executive Officer/Chief Mission Officer
John joined PeaceHealth in June 2012, having served as CEO of The Medical Center of Aurora and Centennial Medical Plaza, located near Denver, Colorado, since 2007. During that time, the hospital received recognition for innovation, effectiveness, and the quality of its care, including the Colorado Performance Excellence Award, and the 2008 American Nurses Association’s Magnet recognitions. Prior to TMCA, John worked as the COO at Medical City Dallas hospital, a 704-bed tertiary acute-care facility. In 2010 he was named to Modern Healthcare’s Up and Comers list of future healthcare leaders.
John is a member of the PeaceHealth Executive Team, and has oversight for the operations at PeaceHealth Cottage Grove Community Hospital and PeaceHealth Peace Harbor Hospital, in addition to two PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center campuses. |

Wendy Apland Chief Financial Officer, Regional Vice President of Finance
Wendy has served with PeaceHealth since 1996 and first supported the Select Care health plan. In 1998, PeaceHealth sold the health plan to Providence Health Plans. Wendy continued to serve Providence in their health plan division. In October of 1998, Wendy returned to PeaceHealth, in the finance division, and now serves as the Regional Vice President of Finance, Chief Financial Officer.
Wendy received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Oregon, and is currently attending the Oregon Executive Masters of Business Administration program. Additionally, she is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Oregon.
Wendy serves on several local boards and is a member of various health care professional organizations including Lane Memorial Blood Bank, Oregon Imaging Center, Day Surgery at RiverBend Ambulatory Surgery Center, Oregon Society of CPAs, Medical Group Management Association, and Healthcare Financial Management Association. |

Roger Saydack Regional Vice President for Strategy and Legal Affairs
Long before joining the administrative team at PeaceHealth Oregon Region, Roger had already distinguished himself as a community leader in health care, law and the arts. He had a particularly close acquaintance with PeaceHealth, having served for 10 years as a volunteer on its regional and system governing boards.
Regarded as one of Oregon’s leading business lawyers, Roger was a founding shareholder in Arnold Gallagher Saydack Percell Roberts & Potter, P.C., and has served as an adjunct professor at the University of Oregon School of Law since 1989, where he teaches an advanced seminar in business planning. In addition to his service on the boards of PeaceHealth and Lane Transit District, Roger has a history of leadership with local and national arts organizations. |

Henry Veldman, FACHE Regional Vice President, PHMG
Henry received his master's degree from Golden Gate University in San Francisco, with emphasis in Health Services Administration. He is a Fellow in the American College of Health Care Executives, and completed an executive program with Kaiser Permanente and Stanford University.
Henry was previously CEO of Western Washington Medical Group, a 60 physician, multi-specialty physician group in Washington. Among his accomplishments was a joint venture 14-bed sleep center with a competing Medical Group, and a Cancer Partnership between three medical groups and the hospital.
Prior to his move to Washington, Henry was an executive with the Kaiser Permanente Medical Care Program. His career of 26 years culminated with the opportunity to build the Kaiser Program in Fresno, California. There he was lead executive, Hospital Health Plan Administrator, and Medical Group Administrator, to develop the program from a start-up operation, to a full fledged medical center over a ten-year period. He oversaw the development of a medical group, health plan, and hospital. |

Craig Mills Vice President, Human Resources
Craig Mills has an extensive career in Healthcare Human Resources. He has been the Regional Vice President of Human Resources in PeaceHealth’s Oregon Region since November 2006. Prior to that, he was Vice President of Human Resources at Saint Anthony’s Medical Center in St. Louis and Vice President of Human Resources for Catholic Healthcare West, serving Northern California.
Craig received his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Science degrees from the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wisconsin. He holds a certification as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR).
Craig has been an active and past member of several professional and community organizations, including the American Society for Healthcare Human Resources Administration, Society for Human Resources Management and the Workforce Investment Board of St. Louis County. He served as a board member for Sacramento Works, Inc., Workforce Investment Board, Greater Sacramento Urban League and Board President for the Suicide Prevention Service, Sacramento County. |

Tim Herrmann Regional Vice President, Hospital Operations
As Regional Vice President of Hospital Operations for PeaceHealth Oregon Region, Tim also serves as Hospital Administrator for Sacred Heart Medical Center, University District campus.
Tim’s tenure with PeaceHealth spans back to 1986 when he was the Trauma Program Coordinator at Sacred Heart Medical Center. From there, he progressed to Manager of Sacred Heart's Emergency and Trauma Services, Administrator of Cottage Grove Community Hospital, and eventually into his current role where he's been since 2006.
Prior to joining PeaceHealth, Tim worked at Queens Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii, as a Staff Nurse and as Trauma Program Coordinator.
Tim graduated from University of Portland with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1982. He earned a Master of Business Administration degree in 2003 from Northwest Christian University in Eugene. |

Rick Kincade, MD Senior Vice President for Medical Group Practice Management
Rick joined PeaceHealth Medical Group in Eugene, Oregon as a family medicine physician in 1993. He soon took on medical group and regional leadership roles and was named to his current system-level executive position in 2009. Rick completed his medical education at the University of California at Davis. He is board-certified in family practice and continues to see patients at his practice in Eugene.
