PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center is expanding its Emergency Department
Construction is now underway at PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center campus to expand its Emergency Department. This project is expected to be completed in summer 2024.
During construction, the Emergency Department entrance has relocated to 5th street. See map below.
Check out the daily construction progress:
The reimagined Emergency Department will include:
- More patient rooms, modern amenities, and a more private healing environment with a space that is double the current size
- A model to improve patient flow, reduce wait times and increase patient satisfaction
- An updated entry with adjacent parking for improved patient and family experience
- Increased capacity and safe traffic flow for cars and ambulances
The second floor of the expansion will include a 24-bed observation unit. This increase in space allows us to treat patients immediately upon arrival, eliminates hallway treatments and reduces waiting room stays.
The second-floor expansion will also include a community connections center occupied by our community partners, who will provide integrated social services for patients who come to the emergency department that are in need of services for housing instability, addiction, food insecurity, and much more.
PeaceHealth’s vision for emergency services is focused on holistic health – an approach that not only attends to our patients’ immediate medical needs but also envelops them with wraparound services and medical specialties they need to address and impact their long-term health after they leave us.
This redesign of the emergency department and coordination with wrap around social services can improve lives at a fraction of the costs and reduce readmissions to the hospital while also providing excellent clinical care to all patients.
