Amy Loughlin, CNM, ARNP, IBCLC joined PeaceHealth’s midwife service in Bellingham in 2023. She cares for patients in our Squalicum Parkway clinic and brings more than twenty years of experience to the team. Her medical interests include perimenopausal care, contraceptive counseling and community wellness. “I consider it an honor to be invited on someone’s health journey,” she says about her approach to practice. “My goal is not to insert myself into their story, but to listen and provide the tools someone needs to reach their wellness goals.” Amy’s experience in caring for women during labor includes obstetric triage, management of normal birth, identification and stabilization of abnormal labor process until physician presents for management and first assist for cesarean sections. She has provided health services for from adolescence through post-menopause, including routine gynecologic services, STI counseling and prevention, contraceptive methods, family planning and hormone therapy. Amy received her master’s degree in nurse-midwifery from the University of Maryland School of Nursing in Baltimore, Maryland. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing from The Catholic University of America School of Nursing in Washington, D.C. Amy previously provided full scope midwifery care to patients in Skagit County, Florida and South Carolina, holding leadership positions in hospital, private practice and federally qualified community health centers. When not working, Amy enjoys hiking, fishing, skiing and playing in her garden with her husband John and dog, Rabil.
