Benjamin Upton, MD, has joined the pediatrics department at PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend. He received his doctor of medicine from the University of Texas Health San Antonio. He completed his residency in combined internal medicine and pediatrics at University of Oklahoma Health Oklahoma City, and had been in practice there since 2023. His approach to medicine includes looking at the whole person when it comes to care. “In pediatrics, the whole person includes the whole family oftentimes,” he said. His intrinsic will to help others led him to becoming a physician, and he embraces the challenges in helping patients and finding the source of their issues. “It’s one big puzzle and it often requires creative thinking to make things work,” he said. He enjoys hiking, camping, fishing and running in his spare time, and the area’s outdoor opportunities are part of what drew him to Oregon.
