James Sims, DNP, joined PeaceHealth Medical Group in 2011. He specializes in geriatrics and is based at the Senior Health & Wellness Clinic inside the PeaceHealth Barger Clinic in Eugene. His special areas of interest include dementia, diabetes, frailty in older adults and palliative care. “I like getting to know patients—their living situation, what gives their life meaning, what approaches they want to take to maintain or improve their health," James says. "Together, as partners, we focus on preventive health and quality of life.” In addition to his role as a provider, James is primary care division chief for PeaceHealth Medical Group’s Oregon network. He also is a dedicated member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), serving in various roles over the years. Outside of work, he enjoys camping, boating and sharing the joys of life through the eyes and experiences of his young great-niece.
