Bedside manners were very poor, I am 15 weeks pregnant and had been bleeding a few days before my appointment. The doctors medical assistant listened to my concerns for less then 5 minutes and decided I needed a vaginal swab because I had an infection, even though I didn't have any symptoms of an infection. The doctor walked in saw the swab on the counter, and asked me "is this for you? Do you need a swab?" I was very confused because this recommendation should be coming from my doctor after speaking with me about my concerns and symptoms. I explained to her I was having bleeding for a few days before my appointment. Instead of showing any sign of compassion and offering to see if she could find the heartbeat to reassure me that my baby was okay (because this was a scary experience for me). She decided to perform a cervical exam and do the swab, the cervical exam was extremely painful. She didn't offer to check the baby's heart rate until the end of my appointment, and then left. I felt humiliated and very uncomfortable, I have never had this kind of experience with a OB.The test results for said swab came back negative (which didn't surprise me because again I had no symptoms of infection or std) and now I still don't have answers on why this happened. I just hope my baby and placenta are okay because they didn't offer anything besides a vaginal swab.
