Lisa J. Hazard MD

Lisa Hazard, MD, joined the radiation oncology team at St. Joseph Medical Center's Cancer Center in April 2022. She is experienced in treating all types of cancer using state-of-the-art technologies, including intensity-modulated radiation therapy and image-guided radiation therapy. Dr. Hazard earned a bachelor's degree from Dartmouth University and her medical degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo. She completed an internship in internal medicine at the University of Utah before doing her residency at Huntsman Cancer Hospital, also at the University of Utah. Before moving into private practice, Dr. Hazard spent five years as an assistant professor at the University of Utah and another two years as an associate professor at the University of Arizona. During her time in academia, she researched gastrointestinal and brain tumors, publishing her own research, review articles and book chapters. She was the primary investigator on clinical trials treating gastrointestinal cancers and melanoma. Dr. Hazard believes in educating patients about the effectiveness and side effects of treatment so they can make informed decisions based on their personal goals and wishes. She shared, “I believe it is equally important to listen to my patients as it is to talk to them.” Dr. Hazard enjoys skiing, rock climbing, hiking and generally spending time outdoors with her husband and two daughters. She also likes to cook and bake.
