We welcomed Mary Schweigert, MSN, AGNP-C, RCES, to the PeaceHealth Medical Group Cardiology team of providers in 2020. Mary is a seasoned cardiovascular nurse with twenty years experience – ten of which have been spent in cardiac and electrophysiology procedures. Mary is not new to PeaceHealth having spent the past 18 years in service at St. Joseph Medical Center. She is one of the few nurses in the PeaceHealth system who is a registered cardiac electrophysiology specialist. Mary has special interests in heart rhythm and arrythmia management with a focus on atrial fibrillation. “As a cardiac nurse practitioner, I strive to have a positive effect and make a genuine connection with my patients. By utilizing preventive and curative methods, patients can experience a reduced frequency and severity of their cardiovascular disease.” Mary said. Mary believes there is a positive correlation between the multidisciplinary approach to cardiovascular care and better patient outcomes. She is pleased to be part of a nurse-led clinic working toward a decrease in all-cause mortality and adverse cardiac events while improving medication adherence for patients. “My intention is to improve patient’s cardiovascular health, quality of life and assist them to develop optimal healthy lifestyle goals," she said. In addition to her love of family, home and nursing, Mary also enjoys Seahawks football, spending time with her two daughters and early morning coffee dates with her husband.
