Mendrell L. Miller LCSW
,
Mendrell (“Mendy”) Miller, LISCW, joined PeaceHealth Medical Group’s Integrated Behavioral Health team in October 2021. Working in partnership with Family Medicine providers, Mendy helps patients achieve overall holistic balance by recognizing that social-emotional and physical wellness go hand in hand. After providing care in a hospital environment, Mendy is thrilled to have landed in this role. Her previous work in mental health emergency care, discharge planning and care management fueled her desire to support patients before they’ve reached a crisis point. Mendy believes that behavioral health integration into primary care is key to optimal health for patients. She explained, “I can’t think of a better way to support patients than by being part of a collaborative care team, where identifying risk factors and treating initial symptoms can provide symptom relief, lead to a healthier lifestyle and ultimately allow patients to function at their best!” Her motivation to enter this field stemmed from her own life experiences. “I came from a family that experienced adversity and wanted to choose a path where I could make a difference in the lives of others,” she shared. Her practice philosophy centers on self-empowerment. “When overwhelmed, we often lose sight that we are our own expert," she said. "Sometimes, we just need help identifying our strengths, and with small practical changes and strategies, we can start feeling better and more balanced in our emotional health.” Outside of the health care setting, Mendy refuels by spending time with her husband, two children and their dog, Mia. They enjoy attending and exploring the various activities, festivals and beautiful surroundings that Whatcom County has to offer. Mendy’s more solitary hobbies include gardening, reading and transforming spaces in their home.
