Michael Sarai, DO, joined the PeaceHealth Center for Senior Health in Bellingham in July 2023. He previously worked as a pharmacist before graduating from medical school at Kansas City University in Kansas City, Missouri. He completed his residencies in Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine at St. Louis University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri. Michael’s medical interests include surgery risks for older adults with complex medical conditions, particularly those concerning frailty, cognitive impairment and serious illness conversations. He’s also contributed articles to several peer-reviewed publications. “Complex older adults are among our health system’s most underserved patients,” said Dr. Sarai. “I specialized in geriatrics to uphold the promise of proper, high-quality geriatric medicine: helping older adults live a dignified life centered on physical, mental, and social well-being,” he said about his choice of medical specialty. In his free time, Michael likes going on hikes, then baking and eating cookies with his wife.
