We welcomed Paul Homer, MD, to the PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center Pediatric Hospitalist team of providers in 2020. He came to PeaceHealth from Seattle Children’s Hospital, where he completed his pediatric residency and stayed another year as chief resident. Dr. Homer has a passion for health equity and health justice and has been very involved in this work in his community and through his employers. He continues participation in the Seattle Health Care Alliance against Human Sex Trafficking. He actively participated in the Seattle Children’s Human Sex Trafficking Work Group and INCLUDE (Inclusion, CuLtural hUmility, Diversity and Equity) curriculum committee. He has special interests in anti-racism in medicine and decreasing provider implicit bias in the clinical setting. In 2019 he was awarded the Family Choice Award: Family-Centered Care Resident Award by Seattle Children’s Family Advisory Council for his excellent support, respect and partnership with his patients and their families. Dr. Homer is board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics. “I am in medicine to partner with families to help children lead healthy lives no matter what situation or season of life they may be in," he said. Dr. Homer is married with two children. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, camping, bicycling and exploring the outdoors with his family. He considers himself a novice golfer and fisherman and is a sports enthusiast for the University of Washington huskies.
