Biography
Robert Cooney, MD, joined the PeaceHealth team as an Internal Medicine physician in 2023. Dr. Cooney’s practice interests include diabetes, heart disease, obesity and mental health. He has well over a decade of experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
Dr. Cooney received his medical degree from Oregon Health and Science University School of Medicine in Portland, OR, completed his internship in Internal Medicine at the University of Nevada – Reno, and finished his Internal Medicine residency at Legacy Health in Portland, OR.
Dr. Cooney is a compassionate, conscientious, and empathetic provider committed to fostering a care environment where patients understand the importance of preventive versus reactive medicine. Dr. Cooney shared that he thrives on opportunities to assist patients with challenging conditions who are committed to improving the quality of their lives in ways that are meaningful to them.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Cooney enjoys studying Italian, reading, rowing, and practicing Stoicism. He is a native Washingtonian and lives with his wife in Mount Vernon.

This was my 1st visit to this provider; the purpose was to establish care. The only reason I didn't give him a 10 is b/c I barely know him. That said, I really like him, & have already recommended him to my husband.
I feel very blessed to have Dr Cooney as my primary physician. Each appointment I've had he really listens to me and always asks if I have anything else to talk about. I feel like I'm his only patient.
