Sharon D. DeHart PAC
- Family Medicine
Biography
Sharon D. DeHart PA is a Family Medicine at Family Medicine at PeaceHealth Peace Harbor 380 Clinic in Florence, OR. Having been raised on the Oregon Coast, Sharon spent 30 years in emergency services (ambulance, emergency room, fire and police) before going back to school. Sharon has been managing the Home Health office for Pacific Communities Hospital in Newport. When her paramedic husband became injured and his career ended, she returned to school and attended Oregon State University, working as a peer advisor for the College of Science and running part of the Students with Disabilities program before graduating with an Honors Bachelor of Science and a double minor in Medical Ethics and Applied Chemistry. Sharon always knew that she wanted to practice primary care in rural Oregon as a Physician Assistant. She applied to Oregon Health & Sciences University, gaining entrance on the first try against 600-plus other applicants. After graduating in 2001, Sharon came back to Linn County where she worked with the free clinic system -- and became the first fulltime provider -- in addition to her already 40-hour per week private practice for Samaritan Health. In 2007, Sharon took a position with a rural health district in South Wasco County, where she practiced for 10 years. During her time there, she built a 501(3)c Foundation for the District and acted as the District Manager where she worked to help establish a new clinic. In 2019, Sharon found work in the Florence, Oregon community. Sharon says, “A lot of prayer led me back to the Coast, just a little further south from where I started, and I am thoroughly enjoying being a part of the Peace Health Medical Group here and Florence. I am partially retired after working 70+ hours per week for 23 years; I now work three very full days. I am enjoying getting to know my husband of 34 years again and having time off to become integrated in the community and my church. Many have asked how long I plan to work; my goal is to complete another 4 years as long as God allows. Hopefully we can find more providers by that time to take over so I can fully retire as I will have almost fully completed seven decades of life at that time!”
