Medical Benefits

Caregivers can choose between a Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) option and an Account Based Health Plan (ABHP) with a Health Savings Account (HSA).

Each plan offers the option to receive care from any provider. Which means caregivers will receive a greater benefit when seeking care from any “preferred network” PeaceHealth provider or “in-network provider” through Regence Preferred network versus going to an out-of-network provider. Caregivers are not required to designate a Primary Care Physician and can self-refer to a specialist.

PPO Plan - The PPO plan includes a deductible, co-insurance, as well as co-pays for services such as urgent care, emergency room visits and prescriptions. The PPO plan allows caregivers to choose any doctor. Accessing services from an in-network provider, caregivers will be charged for care and services at our contracted rates, likely to be less than rates charged by a provider who does not have a contract with our network.

ABHP with HSA - The account based health plan (ABHP) works like a PPO plan with a preferred, in-network and out-of-network option of providers and facilities. The ABHP plan has higher deductible and out-of-pocket maximums than the traditional PPO plan. This is partially offset by lower monthly premiums and a cash contribution from PeaceHealth into a Health Savings Account (HSA) for eligible healthcare expenses .

The purpose of the HSA is to provide money to spend on doctor visits and other bills (deductible, co-pays, and co-insurance) related to health care needs. Funds within the HSA roll over year to year and provide a tax benefit on the contributions, earnings and distributions.
