By the numbers

Across our communities, large and small, from Ketchikan, Alaska, down to Cottage Grove, Oregon, the transformative impact of philanthropy radiates throughout the entire PeaceHealth network to fuel life-changing and life-saving care, close to home.

Together, as one PeaceHealth — powered by caregivers, clinicians, board members and donors — every area of medicine is elevated. Our strong connection to the region means that no matter where we live, exceptional, leading-edge care is never far away.

At PeaceHealth Ketchikan, we proudly care for our community by keeping world-class medicine accessible locally for everyone who lives, works and plays in Southeast Alaska.

This includes the much-needed remodel of our CT suite and the purchase of new state-of-the-art CT equipment for more detailed, accurate and higher resolution images than our current model offers. Having expert critical care nearby is essential considering how long it can take to transfer patients off the island in times of urgent medical need.

In 2021, PeaceHealth Southwest launched the largest and most ambitious fundraising campaign in Clark County history — Healthcare Reimagined — for the major expansion of our Emergency Department.

Today, PeaceHealth Southwest’s Emergency Department has doubled in size, is fitted with the latest technology and equipment, and offers 30% more private patient rooms to better meet the medical needs of our region’s rapidly growing community.

Thanks to generous charitable support, our Child Life Program at PeaceHealth Sacred Heart is growing! Comprised of Certified Child Life Specialists, this innovative program helps infants, children, youth and families cope with the stress and uncertainty of illness, trauma, loss and bereavement. Annually, our team provides 1,500 impactful pediatric patient interventions and 1,200 supportive interactions for parents and caregivers. Last year, we raised more than $100,000 to better serve thousands of young patients in need — at no additional cost to families.

In partnership with Northwest Washington Indian Health Board and through the gifts of generous community members like you, PeaceHealth United General recently held a special event, Indigenous Pink, to underscore the importance of early detection and screening in the fight against breast cancer. This is just one example of how philanthropy helps provide everyone in Skagit County with the best chance to live their healthiest lives.

Buoyed by your philanthropic support, our dedicated team of neuroscience experts at PeaceHealth Sacred Heart are armed with the most advanced medical equipment. This includes new biplane technology for faster, more precise treatment, thereby solidifying our position as a world-class neurological care center in the southern Willamette Valley. As the only certified Comprehensive Stroke Center outside the Portland area, we serve thousands of neuroscience patients annually from neighboring areas both large and small.

Cardio Rehab Patients

Throughout Whatcom County, our amazing community of collective giving has sparked the very best cardiac care at PeaceHealth St. Joseph.  Over the past year, donors supported 50 cardiovascular patients on the road back to health by helping us raise approximately $20,000 in Cardiac Rehab Program Scholarships for the uninsured or those with unaffordable copays. Generosity is at the heart of ensuring healthcare access for neighbors in critical need, funding state-of-the-art equipment and technologies, expanding facilities and so much more.

Quote from Tanya Shanks-Connors, Chief nursing officer at PeaceHealth Southwest

All across the PeaceHealth system, our dedicated nurses go above and beyond to care for us with true compassion and expert skill. At PeaceHealth Sacred Heart, philanthropy supports them on the journey to be the best they can be and enables bold new initiatives like the Oregon Institute for Nursing Excellence.

Throughout PeaceHealth Peace Harbor, innovations in care are part of the norm. Take, for instance, our latest “Escape the Trauma Room” project, which represents a significant advancement in trauma education for our nurses. By using real-time simulations, this new training model provides hands-on, competence-based education to address the unique challenges facing healthcare professionals in rural areas.

In an effort to provide true whole-person care for our patients, prioritizing both medical and non-medical needs, PeaceHealth Southwest has been able to count on our community to secure $8.5 million for the launch of an incredible new initiative, our Community Health Hub. This ambitious endeavor is innovating how we compassionately care for our neighbors with complex needs by integrating essential social services into our Emergency Department.

As part of our Community Health Fund created by Starfire Lumber Co. and amplified by other philanthropic gifts, PeaceHealth Cottage Grove is elevating the health of our patients and neighbors in innovative ways. The Community Health Fund supports everything from local wellness events and health fairs to outreach at area schools that promote the medical profession. At the same time, the fund works to ensure that our community health workers have the resources necessary to care for those in need who live among us, hoping to prevent future hospitalization or disability.
