Children’s Miracle Network at PeaceHealth Sacred Heart

Children's Miracle Network logo

PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center has been a Children’s Miracle Network member hospital since 1987. As a fundraising program of the Sacred Heart Foundation, the Children’s Miracle Network team focuses on supporting the needs of hospital departments and programs that serve infants and children at RiverBend. Through national corporate partnerships, fundraising programs, local annual events, and the generosity of annual individual donors, the Children’s Miracle Network program has raised over $28 million in support of local children and families. Every dollar of every donation made stays right here, at home, where our own children live and play.

Locally, the Children’s Miracle Network program assists more than 4,000 infants and children annually from the five counties (Lane, Douglas, Linn, Coos and Benton) served by PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center. This hospital is mid-Oregon’s critical care center for pediatric medical treatment and is the only Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit between Portland and Medford. Without PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center, children and families would have to seek pediatric treatment far from home. When you donate to the Children’s Miracle Network program, 100% of your gift is dedicated to ensuring quality health care for the infants and children in your community.

How your donations make a difference

Donations to Children's Miracle Network support a variety of clinical and community programs at PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center including:

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)

Sacred Heart’s 36-bed Level III nursery, neonatologists and NICU Care Team provides specialized, life-saving care to premature and medically fragile babies.

Pediatric/adolescent care unit

This 16-bed center includes advanced medical technology and specially trained staff to provide family-centered care for young patients, from newborns to young adults in their early 20s.

Pediatric specialties

Our team of specialists in pediatric surgery and endocrinology are committed to delivering world-class care to our local community. PeaceHealth pediatric surgeons offer expert medical care with a personal, kid- and family-friendly approach. Pediatric surgeons treat children of all ages, from newborns to teenagers. They have extra training for conditions that only affect children, such as gastroschisis and other birth defects.

Labor and delivery

Labor and Delivery offers birthing services in a caring, supportive environment, with access to the most advanced medical support available in the region.

Mother baby unit

The Mother Baby Unit includes 21 rooms and cares for mothers and their newborns following delivery.

NICU mobile ambulance

In partnership with LifeFlight, the Neonatal Ambulance, nicknamed “Big Blue”, transports critically ill newborns to the Sacred Heart NICU – the only NICU serving our five-county region. With enough capacity to house two neonatal isolettes, thanks to Children's Miracle Network funding, the ambulance has the latest in life-saving technology to ensure the best possible outcomes for the tiniest patients.

Reach Out and Read Early Literacy Program

Provides new books to families in the NICU and children in our pediatric clinics to promote healthy brain development, language acquisition, and helps families build meaningful bonds.

School-based health centers

Schools participating in the CMN Kids Helping Kids High School Pageants may apply for grants to help support their school-based health centers or other student health-related needs.

Child Life

Fully funded by philanthropy, the team of certified Child Life professionals provide developmentally and psychologically appropriate emotional support for children and families that interact with all areas of the hospital. Through therapeutic play, our Child Life Specialists prepare children and families for procedures, provide grief support, and offer education to reduce fear, anxiety, and pain.
