Amputee Rehabilitation
The Oregon Rehabilitation Center offers the resources necessary to help patients achieve a more independent and productive life. The amputee program is an inpatient rehabilitation stay emphasizing education and skill-building that provides for a safe discharge to the community.
Program Objectives
The patient's personal recovery goals are identified and an individualized treatment plan is developed. The rehabilitation process is based upon a coordinated team approach with the patient and family as active members. Measurable goals will be generated in the following areas:
- Prosthetic evaluation and fit
- Medical management and preparation of the affected limb for weight-bearing
- Mobility training with and without prosthesis
- Increasing independence and safety in daily living skills
- Range of motion and prevention of contractures
- Improved muscle strength and endurance
- Equipment and home accessibility evaluations
- Supportive counseling as needed
Brain Injury Rehabilitation
The comprehensive traumatic brain injury (TBI) program is dedicated to providing the quality care necessary for recovery from head injury. We offer the resources necessary to help patients achieve a more independent and productive life.
Program Objectives
Following an initial assessment, the team develops an individualized treatment plan with the patient and their family. We work with patients on:
- Cognitive and functional abilities to facilitate the return to home or other community setting
- Mobility and self-care skills
- Neuropsychological testing
- Behavioral programs for acute stages of recovery
- Language and communication skills
- Community mobility, resources and re-entry
- Assessment of adaptive equipment needs
- Supportive counseling for adjustment issues
Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation
The Oregon Rehabilitation Center has the resources necessary to help patients achieve a more independent and productive life. Our program emphasizes a patient- and family-centered team approach focusing on education, training and supported practice.

The ORC team helps patients identify personal recovery goals and develop individualized treatment plans. We work with patients on:
- Transfer and mobility skills
- Education and training in management of spinal cord injury
- Activities of daily living
- Equipment evaluation and wheelchair fitting
- Wheelchair skills
- Home accessibility evaluation
- Use of adaptive devices
- Community mobility, resources and re-entry
- Bowel and bladder function
- Emotional support and counseling for adjustment issues
Stroke Rehabilitation
The Oregon Rehabilitation Center offers the resources necessary to help stroke patients achieve a more independent and productive life. A specialized team approach, including the patient and family, is used to identify and treat primary problems and goals for patients.
Program Objectives
The ORC team works with patients to identify recovery goals and develop individualized treatment plans. We work with patients on:
- Increased independence and safety in daily living skills
- Mobility, strength and endurance
- Spoken, written and non-verbal communication
- Cognitive skills and techniques to compensate for deficit
- Psychosocial adjustment to disability for patient and family
- Community mobility, resources and re-entry
- Assessment of adaptive equipment needs
- Bowel and bladder function
- Home accessibility evaluations
Total Joint Replacement Rehabilitation
The Oregon Rehabilitation Center has the resources and expertise necessary to help total joint replacement patients resume normal activity as soon as possible following bilateral hip or knee replacement surgery.
Program Objectives
The ORC team works with total joint patients to develop an individualized treatment plan designed to return the patient to his or her normal activities. We work with patients on:
- Gait training and mobility
- Increasing independence and safety in daily living skills
- Improving muscular strength and endurance
- Equipment and home accessibility evaluations
