COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. – Mary Fey, Family Nurse Practitioner of PeaceHealth Medical Group’s Dexter Clinic, recently received the annual American Association of Nurse Practitioners’ (AANP) State Award for Excellence in Oregon.
Every year, AANP recognizes outstanding achievements by nurse practitioners (NP) and NP advocates by presenting the State Award for Excellence. Founded in 1991, this award recognizes an NP in each state who demonstrates excellence in clinical practice.
Fey was recognized as an extraordinary clinical preceptor for many NP programs, and as the sole provider for her community for over 25 years. She is actively involved in county and state NP organizations, and leads suturing workshops for beginning and advanced students each year at the annual Oregon NP Education conference.
“Mary not only provides excellent services to our patients as a nurse practitioner, but she goes the extra mile, acting as a mentor to all of her students,” said Tim Herrmann, chief administrative officer of PeaceHealth Cottage Grove Community Medical Center. “She has trained so many of our nurse practitioners, and has been a staple in the Dexter community for 30 years. Her patients appreciate the level of care and professionalism she provides. Mary is incredibly deserving of this award, and we are proud to have her as part of our team.”
This is Fey’s second time receiving this prestigious award. She was also a recipient in 1995.
