SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – As COVID-19 cases surge in our community, putting a strain on hospital staffing and resources, PeaceHealth is gratefully accepting assistance from the National Guard.
“We want to extend our sincere thanks to each service member who is providing support at Sacred Heart at RiverBend and other hospitals in Oregon,” said Elva Sipin, vice president of operations, PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend. “These men and women are giving back to their community at a time when their help is most needed.”
PeaceHealth will welcome National Guard service members to our PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend campus as early as Monday, Aug. 30. They will begin a modified orientation and will serve through Sept. 30, performing duties in various nonclinical areas, including the following:
- Data entry and clerical work to support RiverBend’s leadership role in Region 3, which includes hospitals in Lane, Douglas and Coos counties
- Passing trays and working on tray lines for Food Services
- Cleaning beds at peak discharge times for Environmental Services
- Assisting in Supply Chain
Additional service members may be assigned to help at RiverBend, as well as other PeaceHealth Oregon hospitals. PeaceHealth will provide updates as more information becomes available.
The assistance at Sacred Heart at RiverBend is part of the National Guard’s broader effort to provide support to numerous hospitals in Oregon.
