PeaceHealth partners with CHHH to open PeaceHealth Richard Nau Hospice House

| News

Longview, Wash. – PeaceHealth, through a partnership with Community Home Health & Hospice (CHHH), will open the doors later in November of what was formerly called Longview Hospice Care Center, carrying on the 45-year legacy of providing hospice care in Longview.

CHHH that has operated in Clark, Cowlitz and Wahkiakum Counties since 1997, sold its outpatient home health and hospice business in the spring and sought to partner with PeaceHealth in providing hospice care in the community.

PeaceHealth will assume operation of the 12-bed hospice house, remaining committed to ensuring future patients experience the same level of exemplary care and compassion that patients received in the past.

“This partnership reflects the commitment of two community-based organizations coming together,” says Corey Balkan, CHHH Board Chair / PeaceHealth St. John Community Health Board Chair. “It also represents the latest step in CHHH’s multi-year planning process to ensure our region receives the care it deserves, employees passionate about their work maintain meaningful employment, and we honor the legacy of CHHH and the families that have supported it for nearly half a century,” Balkan adds.

As part of honoring the legacy, hospice house, located at 1035 11th Avenue, has been renamed PeaceHealth Richard Nau Hospice House. Donor recognition plaques reflecting loved ones and historical gifts will remain on display within the facility.

“We are honored to operate the facility and thank Community Home Health & Hospice for this partnership that enables continuity of this important service,” says Cherelle Montanye, PeaceHealth St. John Chief Administrative Officer. ”This partnership directly aligns with PeaceHealth’s strategic vision to invest in home and community-based services so that our community members can remain local while they receive care outside of our hospital,” Montanye adds.

Montanye added that PeaceHealth is grateful and humbled to carry on the 45-year legacy of providing hospice care in the community. Balkan added how proud the respective boards are to have these dynamic organizations collaborate for the community’s interests.

A public open house will be scheduled sometime later in November.
