Runners and walkers encouraged to join one of the biggest community wellness events of the year

VANCOUVER, Wash. – The 7th Annual PeaceHealth APPLETREE Marathon, Half & 5K event weekend is coming up on Sept. 7-8, 2024. In partnership with Why Racing Events, PeaceHealth is proud to again serve as the title sponsor of Vancouver’s premiere long-distance race, featuring four distances: marathon, half-marathon, 5K, and marathon relay.

For each event, this “run through history” will take you on a flat, fast and scenic course through Fort Vancouver, Officer’s Row, the Army Barracks, Pearson Airport, and more. The weekend kicks off with the 5K Sunset Run on Sept. 7, where runners will be greeted by a live band at the finish line. On Sept. 8, the two-loop, spectator-friendly, Boston Marathon-qualifying marathon course highlights the beauty of the Vancouver community and offers an exciting racing experience. First responders have the opportunity to complete the marathon distance as a relay team.

“PeaceHealth is proud to sponsor the APPLETREE weekend,” says Cherelle Montanye, PeaceHealth Southwest Chief Hospital Executive. “Keeping our community healthy is our priority and we encourage everyone, regardless of fitness level, to pick your race and walk or run with us.” According to the American Heart Association, walking at a brisk pace for just 20 minutes a day can help you sleep better, reduce your risk of serious diseases like heart disease, stroke, and diabetes, and increase your energy and stamina.

“We’re expecting nearly 2,000 runners and walkers this year,” says Karissa Schoene, Owner and Race Director of Why Racing Events. “We value PeaceHealth’s ongoing support of this great community event that has a race distance for every level, whether you’ve just started walking or you’ve been running for years.”

Runners and walkers alike will enjoy one of the biggest community wellness events of the year. Register at https://whyracingevents.com/appletree-run/.
