Chief Administrative Officer, PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center
President, Hospital Services, Oregon
As Chief Administrative Officer of PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center, Rand O'Leary leads operations and maintains accountability for the overall administration, financial health and management of Sacred Heart in providing efficient, high-quality and patient-focused care.
Rand joined PeaceHealth in 2014. Prior to his arrival at PeaceHealth, Rand was the Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital in Wyandotte, Mich., a 401-bed acute care hospital serving the Downriver and Western Wayne County communities.
Rand is a seasoned healthcare executive with extensive hospital leadership experience, including six years as Vice President of Surgical Services and Specialty Programs at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo, Mich. Borgess is a 425-bed tertiary referral and teaching hospital that is a part of the Catholic Ascension Health system. Rand holds a master's degree in Health Care Administration and is a Fellow, American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE).
Chief Administrative Officer, PeaceHealth Peace Harbor Medical Center
Rick Yecny is Chief Administrative Officer of PeaceHealth Peace Harbor Medical Center. Rick was a member of the Peace Harbor Hospital Community Board of Directors from 1991 to 2000. From 2001 to 2010, Rick served as the Chief Financial Officer for Peace Harbor. In 2010, Rick became the Chief Mission Officer and Chief Executive Officer for Peace Harbor.
Prior to joining Peace Health, Rick was a partner for 18 years in the CPA firm of Davis, Yecny, and McCulloch, with offices in Florence and Reedsport, Ore. Rick serves as a board member of the Friends of Florence, a non-profit organization providing transportation for cancer patients to Eugene for radiation therapy. The van runs five days a week, 52 weeks a year and is managed and operated completely through volunteers. Rick was also selected as Florence First Citizen in 2010.
Rick received a bachelor's degree from the University of Portland, and is a CPA, inactive.
In her role as Chief Development Officer for Oregon, Sharon Thornton oversees all foundation fund-raising efforts.
Sharon brings a wealth of senior executive nonprofit health care fund-raising and philanthropic development experience to the position. She came to Oregon West Network from the Hoag Hospital Foundation in Newport Beach, Calif., where she had served since 2002, first as Vice President for Gift Planning and most recently as Vice President of Legal Affairs/General Counsel.
Sharon is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of California Los Angeles and holds a juris doctorate from Loyola Law School.
Chief Administrative Officer, PeaceHealth Cottage Grove Community Medical Center
Tim Herrmann’s tenure with PeaceHealth spans back to 1986 when he was the Trauma Program Coordinator at Sacred Heart Medical Center. From there, he progressed to Manager of Sacred Heart's Emergency and Trauma Services, Administrator of Cottage Grove Community Hospital, and eventually into his current role where he's been since 2014.
Prior to joining PeaceHealth, Tim worked at Queens Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii, as a Staff Nurse and as Trauma Program Coordinator.
Tim graduated from University of Portland with a bachelor of science degree in 1982. He earned a master of business administration degree in 2003 from Northwest Christian University in Eugene.
Mary Anne McMurren
Vice President of Post-Acute Care, Administrator of PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center, University District
After four years as Administrator and Chief Mission Officer at PeaceHealth Cottage Grove Community Medical Center, Mary Anne McMurren took on an expanded leadership role as Vice President of Post-Acute Services and Administrator of PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center, University District in July 2013.
Post-acute care refers to a range of medical services that support a patient's continued recovery from illness or management of a chronic illness or disability after leaving the hospital. Mary Anne's responsibilities also include executive oversight of behavioral health services. Her background and skill set are particularly suited to leading the efforts to expand our network of care in these vital areas.
Mary Anne earned her master's degree in health care administration from the University of Phoenix in 2009 and a bachelor of science in nursing from Oregon Health & Science University in 1982.
Louella Freeman, RN, MSN
Chief Nursing Officer, PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend
Chief Nursing Officer Louella Freeman, RN, MSN, leads the nursing division at PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend and supports the nursing profession in Oregon West Network.
When Louella joined PeaceHealth in 2014, she brought 16 years of executive nursing leadership experience to PeaceHealth as part of her extensive professional background. Prior to her arrival, she was Chief Nursing Officer at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital, a 269-bed acute care hospital in Salinas, Calif. Her prior positions include Vice President, Clinical Services, at the 644-bed Sacred Heart Medical Center and Children's Hospital in Spokane, Wash., and Assistant Vice President for Nursing Services at St. Mary's Medical Center in Apple Valley, Calif.
She received bachelor and master of science degrees in nursing from Loma Linda University in California.
Vice President, Strategy, Innovation and Development
Kristopher Kitz is responsible for strategic, operational and business planning and new business development for Oregon. He serves as a member of the Executive Team to collaboratively provide advice and assistance in coordinating and operationalizing the strategic plan. Kris has executive responsibility for strategic development, outreach, telehealth, systems of care, and the regional patient transfer center. He is also the regional executive leader for women's, children's and cardiac services.
Kris brings a wealth of strategic planning and business development experience. He joined PeaceHealth from MultiCare Health System of Tacoma, Wash., where he worked since 2006, most recently as Director of Strategic Planning and Business Development. Kris has a Master of Health Services Administration degree and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Washington.
Chief Financial Officer, Vice President of Finance
Wendy Apland is Vice President of Finance/CFO for PeaceHealth Oregon, and has been with PeaceHealth since July 1998. In this position, she provides financial strategy and oversees and coordinates all network financial services, including Finance, Accounting, Patient Financial Services, Payor Contracting, Property Management, Supply Chain, and Information Technology.
Wendy received her bachelor's and master's degrees in business administration from the University of Oregon. She is a Certified Public Accountant and participates in a variety of health care associations.
Vice President of Operations, PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center
As Vice President of Operations for PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center, Shannon Surber oversees the planning and direction of the delivery of hospital services, including ancillary and support services, in accordance with the PeaceHealth Sacred Heart operational plan.
Shannon came to PeaceHealth in 2006 from The Ohio State University Medical Center to open the Oregon Bariatric Center as a Center of Excellence. She served as the center's Program Director. In March 2007, her role expanded to Operations Director of Specialties for PeaceHealth Medical Group and Sacred Heart Physicians. She assumed the role of Executive Director for the Surgical Institute in January 2011.
