Caregiver creatively fulfills one patient’s request
When you live on an island, small gestures can mean so much more
Catherine Scott, lead pharmacist at PeaceHealth Peace Island Medical Center at Friday Harbor, on San Juan Island, Washington, fulfilled a simple act of kindness that made a large impact for one patient.
The patient asked for rainbow stickers to have during her chemotherapy treatment. When Catherine heard this, she set out to fulfill the request. Working in a remote island location made finding the stickers a challenge. That’s when Catherine got innovative.
She enlisted the help of another creative caregiver, Dana van Every, executive assistant, who printed some colorful rainbow images on label stock. What seemed like a small thing gave the patient hope and comfort during her chemotherapy.
“This simple act of kindness was so touching. It makes me so proud to be able to be a part of such a caring gesture,” says Dana. “It really is the small things that make the biggest difference.”
