This nurse educator in Bellingham uses empathy and understanding to help other caregivers connect with patients.
Malena Munroe uses empathy as a "superpower."
And she’s helping other caregivers learn it too to connect with patients who may be labeled “troubled.” Malena is a clinical nurse educator. She works at PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center in Bellingham, Washington.
“If we can all realize that trauma is prevalent…we can all connect with and care for our patients and each other,” she says.
Malena received PeaceHealth’s 2024 systemwide Mission and Values Award for Collaboration.
