EUGENE, Ore. -- PeaceHealth has selected Kindred Hospital Rehabilitation Services as the program manager of acute rehabilitation services at our 18-bed Oregon Rehabilitation Center at PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center, University District in Eugene. The agreement is expected to go into effect on Jan. 20, 2020.

The Oregon Rehabilitation Center, which opened at University District in 1976, has a long history of offering exceptional care to patients recovering from serious illness or injury, including stroke and brain injury.

“We believe a PeaceHealth and Kindred partnership focused on advancing acute rehab services will establish Oregon Rehabilitation Center as a statewide center of excellence,” said Mary Kingston, chief executive of the PeaceHealth Oregon Network. “Kindred brings to the partnership its extensive network of relationships and its experience and expertise operating similar facilities around the country.”

Kindred is a national leader in hospital rehabilitation services known for outperforming national averages on quality measures. This partnership also supports a model that PeaceHealth is already successfully operating in our Northwest Washington market. Ultimately, the partnership will enable Oregon Rehabilitation Center to more quickly expand services and offer more advanced therapies and technologies.

“We are committed to investing in programs and services that enhance the quality of patient care at Oregon Rehabilitation Center and increase our community’s access to essential services to improve patients’ functional abilities and independence,” Kingston said. “Kindred Hospital Rehabilitation Services brings a high level of expertise, experience, insight and professionalism to our rehabilitation services.”

“PeaceHealth has a longstanding reputation for clinical excellence, innovation in patient care and outstanding quality outcomes,” said Rachel Compton, Kindred Hospital Rehabilitation Services’ divisional vice president – West Region. “We are excited about the opportunity to partner with the Oregon Rehabilitation Center as we implement programs best tailored to meet patients’ needs and provide local employment opportunities. We share in PeaceHealth’s commitment to excellence and care philosophy.”

This collaboration broadens PeaceHealth’s relationship with Kindred Hospital Rehabilitation Services, which was chosen to manage an inpatient rehabilitation center, which opened July 1, 2019 at PeaceHealth United General Medical Center in Sedro-Woolley, Wash.

PeaceHealth and Kindred Hospital Rehabilitation Services are committed to continuing Oregon Rehabilitation Center’s long record of success for the benefit of patients, their families and the communities we serve.
