Dianna Kielian named PeaceHealth senior vice president of mission, theology and ethics

VANCOUVER, Wash. – Dianna Kielian has been named senior vice president of mission, theology and ethics for PeaceHealth, a not-for-profit health system with 16,000 caregivers and more than 900 employed physicians serving communities in Washington, Oregon and Alaska. She begins her new role Monday, Aug. 21.

Kielian comes to PeaceHealth from CHI Franciscan Health, where she served as the mission services and ethics executive for nearly two decades. In her role at PeaceHealth, Kielian will help lead systemwide ministry efforts to attain strategic initiatives while helping to safeguard the important and unique PeaceHealth culture, as well as the deeply held commitment to the organization’s mission and values.

Kielian has more than 35 years of experience building and strengthening the mission and core values at various not-for-profit healthcare systems. She has spent years establishing mission services departments and implementing values integration programs. In addition to her wealth of experience, Kielian brings a proven track record during an accomplished career providing theological reflection, organizational development, executive coaching, governance and facilitation. In her new role, Kielian will report directly to Liz Dunne, President and CEO of PeaceHealth.

I look forward to building upon the good work that has already been done and helping them to continue to carry on our healthcare ministry in our communities in new and innovative ways.” Kielian’s tenure at CHI Franciscan Health began in 1998. She held a variety of increasingly senior positions related to mission services, culminating in her position as senior vice president of mission. She also served as the interim president of the Franciscan Foundation from 2011 to 2012, achieving more than $4.5 million in revenue for the organization. Before her time at CHI Franciscan, she spent 17 years working in mission services roles at Mercy Medical Centers in Iowa, first in Clinton from 1980 to 1987 and then in Sioux Falls from 1987 to 1997.

In addition to her work within Catholic healthcare, Kielian is an avid community volunteer. She is currently the president of the board of the Tacoma Community College Foundation and a board member for the Pierce County United Way, where she recently finished a two - year stint as their campaign manager. Kielian is also a board member and volunteer at the Emergency Food Network and Pierce County Project Access. Kielian, who still has family in Michigan, currently lives in Tacoma with her partner of 20 years, Lynn, and their two dogs.
