EUGENE, Ore. – In just one year, PeaceHealth Rides has become an integral part of the city of Eugene’s transportation system and bike culture.
Thousands of people, from college students to senior citizens, are getting outside, hopping on the bright blue bikes and improving their personal health, as well as the health of their community and environment.
PeaceHealth Rides members have logged over 190,175 trips and 210,000 miles since the bike share program launched a year ago on April 19, 2018.
In the past year, over 13,000 people have become PeaceHealth Rides members, and they’ve burned more than 8.2 million calories.
By using green transportation, PeaceHealth Rides members prevented more than 181,177 pounds of carbon gases from entering the atmosphere, saving roughly 9,058 gallons of gas.
The PeaceHealth Rides team is so grateful to all our members for making our first year of operation an incredible success and to the community for embracing bike share as a new transportation option.
The bike share system launched with 300 bikes and 35 stations in Eugene and one station in Springfield at PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend. We recently added four stations in Eugene, including the popular destinations of Valley River Center, Amazon Park, Lane Events Center and 19th and Agate.
To celebrate our first year, we will unveil a one-of-a-kind PeaceHealth Rides birthday bike. After making a special appearance during Eugene Marathon weekend, April 26-28, it will join the PeaceHealth Rides bike fleet for users to find and ride.
PeaceHealth and PeaceHealth Rides will be active all marathon weekend, supporting and celebrating health and wellness in our community. Drop by our “Run, Ride, Rejuvenate” booths at the Health & Wellness Expo at Lane Events Center on Friday, April 26, and Saturday, April 27, and at the Finish Festival at the finish line at Autzen Stadium on Sunday, April 28.
The birthday bike and one of our recently released marathon-themed bikes will be on display. Blender bikes will be whipping up smoothies. We’ll be handing out smoothie samples, cake pops and plenty of prizes.
