Cottage Grove donor gives generously out of gratitude for care close to home
Herbert Ball makes a difference with his giving to various projects
Herbert Ball is a man who makes a difference. And not just in word, but also in deed. One of the ways he makes a difference is by giving to the PeaceHealth Cottage Grove Community Medical Center Foundation. Herb’s legacy of giving to the foundation started in 2002 because of the excellent care his beloved wife, Virginia, received during her ongoing health struggles the last few years of her life.
Because she was able to get care close to home, Herb and his family could be near her without the stress of travelling out of the area. As Herb shares, it was “during my family’s most crucial time of need, they cared for us like we were their family. I am a huge supporter, and truly grateful we have a local hospital with a first-class medical team and all of the services offered here in Cottage Grove.”
Over the years, Herb’s gifts have helped to bring new mammography equipment, a walk-in clinic and other services that enhance care for the Cottage Grove community. This year, he chose to support the PeaceHealth Cottage Grove emergency department – a favorite of his because of the superb care and excellent service he’s always received from the caregivers who work there, especially the nurses.
For the past several years Herb has also supported the PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center Foundation in Eugene, Oregon. This year, he also made a donation to help build the Heartfelt Guest House. He felt this was important, so out-of-town patients and their families have a place to stay during their treatment.
Herb encourages others to support local care by supporting the foundation because “there are so many places your gift can be used to good effect.”
