Scripture inspires longtime Longview residents to faithful giving

Charity begins at home. That’s especially true for Brian and Maria Magnuson of Longview, Washington. Brian was born and raised in the area. It’s where he’s lived his entire life and owns several businesses. His wife, Maria, a PeaceHealth nurse practitioner, has lived in the community 35 years and it’s where they met.  

 

Inspired by the scripture from the gospel of Luke “To whom much is given, much is required,” Brian believes in giving back. For the Magnuson’s, this starts at home and it’s why they’ve, faithfully given to the PeaceHealth St. John Foundation’s general fund for nearly a decade.

 

He credits the late Sister Rose Marie Nigro for encouraging his involvement with PeaceHealth St. John and the Foundation since 2009. He’s been serving ever since and is the current president of the PeaceHealth St. John Community Health Board.

 

For Maria, supporting the foundation is a way of giving back for the care both her parents received at PeaceHealth St. John. “It’s a way to leave a legacy and to honor them,” she says. The Magnuson’s also believe their charitable gifts help ensure the future health of their beloved community. “The challenge of healthcare today,” says Brian, “is to catch people at an age to influence them to make good decisions and stay healthy.”

 

“PeaceHealth St. John is our hospital. It’s a great resource for our community and we need to support it,” adds an emphatic Maria. You can hear the heartfelt passion the Magnuson’s have for improving the health and wellness for others who also call Longview home.
