Fresh, delicious dessert option
You may not expect balsamic vinegar to pair so well with cherries, but it is a delicious combination. The tangy flavor from the balsamic vinegar really brings out the sweetness of the cherries.
Serves 3 (6-ounce mason jar parfaits)
Ingredients
-
1 pound fresh organic cherries, pitted and halved
-
3 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
-
½ cup toasted walnuts
-
1 cup plain lowfat yogurt
-
1 tablespoon honey
Directions
Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F. Marinate the cherries in balsamic vinegar while the oven is preheating. Spread the cherries on a baking sheet and bake them for 20 minutes. Mix the yogurt and honey together, stirring with a spoon. Evenly layer all ingredients into three 6-ounce mason jars for a nutritious breakfast or snack.
